Is it true that a breast implant removal should be performed with complete or “enbloc” capsulectomy and a breast lift should not be done at the same time?
The simple answer is no, that is not true. There are times when complete removal of the capsule or en and implant, or “enbloc removal”, are warranted but this is usually only for cases in which the implants are the old silicone non-cohesive gel implants and there is evidence of rupture. There are also a few cases of severe, recurrent breast implant capsule contracture where this might be indicated as well.
A breast lift or mastopexy can easily be performed at the same time as a new breast implant placement. Many women I see, come in thinking they need a lift and are pleasantly surprised to find out that all they need is the new style implants placed in a better position.
