Chemical Peel, Microdermabrasion

Chemical Peels and  Microdermabrasion

What are chemical peels?

Chemical Peels when used in conjunction  with a home skin care program  helps the skin function optimally. Chemical peels remove the layer of dead skin cells that build-up (depleting the skin of oxygen) by treating the asphyxiated skin. Your skin texture is refined, fine lines are diminished, and pigmentation is lifted and removed with little down time.

Reveal soft, luminous underlying skin with  light to medium-depth chemical peels; alpha hydroxy acids, trichloracetic acids, beta-hydroxy acids, Vitamin A peels, and Jessner chemical peels. Chemical Peels are excellent for treating aging and sun damaged skin, active acne, rough texture, fine lines and scars. A series of peels, usually 6, are recommended to achieve desired results. Medium depth peels require more down time, but, may achieve desired results in one to two peels.

Alpha Hydroxy Chemical Peels

AHA’s, citric acid , malic acid, tataric acid, and glycolic acid accelerate the process of renewing the strateum corneum (the top layer)  by reducing the strength of the bonds between the cells. AHA’s  are highly effective as a follicle cleanser and exfoliant, improves pigment, stimulates collagen production and produces a healthier skin barrier. When AHA’s are combined in low doses the synergy of ingredients allow for better absorption and delivery to encourage change on the cellular level. Maximum results can be seen two weeks after each treatment. Six peels, 14 days, apart are recommended.

Beta Hydroxy Chemical Peels

Salicylic acid addresses excess skin build-up without significantly reducing hydration. Salicylic acid is an excellent deep pore cleanser and anti-inflammatory, a great treatment option for acne.

Trichloracetic chemical peels

TCA, is a medium-depth peel, therefore, one can expect about 3-4 days of intense redness and extensive peeling. This peel provides greater results, benefiting melasma, some existing scars as well as skin tone.

Vitamin A chemical peels

The Vitamin A peel is composed of a group of naturally occurring and synthetic compounds that have vitamin A like bio-chemical activity that jump start cell factories of fibroblasts in the dermis to produce collagen and elastin. This group, known as retinoids, play a vital role in skin growth and repair reducing fine wrinkling and creating texture changes, as well as,  stimulating the formation of new blood vessels and capillaries. The Vitamin A Peel treats acne by preventing the cells that line the follicular canal from sticking together. Alowing the impactions to release.

Jessners chemical peel

The Jessner peel is made from salicylic acid (a beta-hydroxy acid), lactic acid (an alpha hydroxy acid), and resorcinol. It is a superb treatment for acne, lightening areas of hyperpigmentation and to treat aging photo damaged skin.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a procedure for removing the top most layer of skin leaving it supple and smooth.  The Diamond Tome Wand Microdermabrasion removes this layer of skin by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips, while at the same time vacuuming the dead skin cells away in a sterile environment.

Microdermabrasion reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, photo damage, and improves the over all health of the skin. This rejuvenating treatment is painless without any down time.
