You have probably heard the term, the "Lunchtime Facelift." Usually, the term refers to BOTOX® injections, which is very brief with virtually no unpleasant side effects. BOTOX® is commonly used on deep wrinkles on the forehead, glabella region (between the eyes), and for crows feet.  The results can be quite extraordinary, although the treatments must be repeated every 4 to 6 months.

BOTOX® (botulinum toxin) was originally introduced (and continues to be used) as a treatment for facial spasms. Patients recognized that a welcome side effect was reduction of wrinkles. So, a new wrinkle treatment was born.

Very small amounts of BOTOX® are injected into the area being treated, causing the surrounding muscles to relax. This relaxation effect reduces the appearance of even quite deep expression lines and wrinkles. Since BOTOX® only works in the immediate area of the injection, natural facial expressions and movements are not affected.

Patients are advised not to recline for several hours after the treatment and it generally takes up to 5 days for a patient to experience the full effect.
